a monk who is over 100 years old, the number of people is getting fewer and fewer each day. His name is familiar to his disciples and collectors of southern amulets, “Father Than Eum Katapunyo.”

History of Father Than Eum Katapunyo, Bang Nien Temple

Father Than Eum, a monk who is a great sorcerer, a real diamond of the Pak Phanang River basin, the abbot of Suwannachattuphonpannaram Temple (Bang Nien Temple), Mae Chao Yu Hua Subdistrict, Chian Yai District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, was born at 68, Village No. 12, Karaket Subdistrict, Chian Yai District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. After completing his primary education at a nearby school, he worked as a farmer to support his family.

Father Than Eum Ordained at the age of 65 on June 18, 1971 at 1:45 p.m. at the ordination hall of Wat Pak Chian, Amphoe Chian Yai, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, with Phra Khru Thawon Boonrat as the preceptor and Phra Manit Manito as the kammavajacariya. He received the religious name "Katapunyo" according to the biography of Father Than Eum. Before ordination, he was a former tiger and had a clash with Pol. Lt. Col. Khun Phantharak Ratchadet. They both had the same knowledge of the Khao Or school. Eventually, the two of them became friends. Later, Pol. Lt. Col. Khun Phantharak Ratchadet suggested that he ordain with Father Than Klai at Wat Chandi. However, Father Klai was very old, so he suggested that he ordain with another monk. Before ordination, he said that if he ordained with any monk, he would disrobe with that monk. Finally, he was ordained with Phra Khru Thawon Boonrat. Later, Phra Khru Thawon Boonrat passed away. Father Than Eum has not been able to disrobe since then until now.

Luang Pu Eum Katapunyo For the study of Buddhist magic, after being ordained, Father Than Eum stayed at Wat Pak Chian to study the rules and practices of Vipassana meditation. Then he went on a pilgrimage through the forests and mountains, up north to Prachuap Khiri Khan, down south to the monastery of Ajahn Khao Or, and all the way to the border of Malaysia. During the pilgrimage, he built temples in various places, totaling 7 temples: Wat Tai Thale, Chian Yai District, Nakhon Si Thammarat; Wat Noen Thammang, Chian Yai District, Nakhon Si Thammarat; Wat Sai Thai, Mueang District, Krabi; Sa Dao Monastery, Mueang District, Chumphon; Khao Wong Waen Monastery, Huai Yot District, Trang; Khuan Khao Din Monastery, Phrasaeng District, Surat Thani Province; and Wat Bang Nien, Chian Yai District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. His reputation is well-known for his great mercy, invulnerability, and safety.
