The first edition of the City Pillar Stamp Coin, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, year 1987, was created as a sacrifice and sold to raise funds to build the City Pillar Shrine of Nakhon Si Thammarat and to commemorate the occasion when His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great graciously bestowed holy water on the top of the City Pillar of Nakhon Si Thammarat, which was a very auspicious day, Monday, August 3, 1987, corresponding to the 9th day of the waxing moon in the 9th month, Year of the Rabbit.
