When Cynthia Stafford, a 53-year-old California native, won $112 million in the 2007 California Mega Millions jackpot, she was excited to be sure, but she was not surprised.
Cynthia, who used to play the lottery two to three times per month before her win, told Marie Claire, 'I had been focusing on winning for so long that when I did finally win, it didn't even feel random; it felt like I had made it happen'.
Her trick, she revealed, is that she would 'visualize winning' each time she purchased a ticket, picking whatever random numbers first came to mind.

The former software account executive said that she had predicted that she would win exactly $112 million long before buying her golden ticket and even researched financial advisers and lawyers in preparation.
'You have to prepare yourself for wealth. That's why I think I'm an anomaly as a successful, stable lottery winner,' she said.
Cynthia, who describes herself as a 'lottery winner' in her Twitter bio, has used the social media site to share more words of wisdom with her 8,700 followers.
'No matter what always be happy you LOVE as much as you do,' she wrote in 2013, adding, 'It's ok to daydream and dream outrageously BIG, for the subconscious mind will deliver what we really crave!'
She also took to the platform to extol the virtues of positivity: 'Even if it seems to be taking a while to receive what you're seeking, check your inner thoughts and keep all negativity in check. I already knew I won, because I never doubted.'
When she finally hit the jackpot she was a single mother raising her late brother's five children in a 1,100-square foot home.
'The first thing I did with my winnings was go house-hunting,' Cynthia recounted. She settled on a 4,000-square foot home with a pool in the Pacific Palisades where she still resides today.
