Contest Queen Helene Hadsell Tells How She Used "The Secret" - 1

HELENE HADSELL AND HER SPEC TECHNIQUE

Helene Hadsell newspaperHelene Hadsell is the legendary contest queen, who has probably won more valuable prizes than anybody else. Not by chance or mere luck, but consciously creating every winning event she had! The prizes include numerous home appliances, bicycles, cameras, furniture, trips in first class, money, and even a big 4,300-square foot house in Irving, Texas.

Everything started, when in 1958 she read a book about positive thinking. Finished reading the book she understood she could get everything she wanted. Exited by that prospect, he asked her husband who sat nearby and read a newspaper, what would he like to have.
"I'd like the outboard motor they are giving out.", he pointed to an advertisement in the newspaper.
It was a Coca-Cola contest and the participants had to write in 25 words why they take Coca-Cola on outings.

At first, it was quite hard for Helene to write anything, as she herself didn't drink Coke at all. But visualizing her husband on a boat with the motor, she finally came upon this: "I'm a lone-wolf fisherman, and Cokes are my silent partners. They contribute no yakaty-yak, only enjoyment when called upon."
After mailing it off, she said to her husband: “I wonder, how long it’s going to take to let us know we won.”
She was absolutely certain about them winning the prize.

Helene Hadsell has never made a secret of how she won the prizes. She has lectured around the world, telling how she succeeded. Already in 1971 she published a book about contesting, where she shared with everyone how to make it all happen.

First and foremost she emphasizes that she doesn’t believe in luck or chance. Each and every one of her wins has come as a result of constant positive thinking. Every time the cause has been charged with so much positive energy that it simply couldn't resist coming to her.

THE SPEC TECHNIQUE
All this work she did, has been summarized into a four-letter formula SPEC:

1. S-elect it. The first step is to select the thing you wish to have. Choose exactly what must it be, with as much detail as possible: the brand, the color etc. You have to know exactly what you want.

2. P-roject it. The next thing is to imagine yourself already having it. If it’s about your new car, then how do you feel sitting in it? What's the scent your nostrils catch inside? How the engine sounds? How soft is the seat you are sitting in? What is it made of? Imagine driving it, cleaning it etc. The more detail, backed with positive emotions (this is important!), the better.
After entering a contest and waiting for the results, Helene always did this visualization every single day and continuously. It is also important to have faith, so that no negative feelings and doubts will arise. If they do, they simply neutralize the positive work you have done and there will be no result at all.

3. E-xpect it. You must be absolutely certain that the thing will come. No doubts. It’s like ordering something from a catalog: you have the certainty that it’ll come, only time may vary.

4. C-ollect it. Now it’s time to get it. You may be required to take some small action to actually go and receive it.

It’s important to be focused on the end result, and not the means to reach it. Helene Hadsell never thought how a contest jury must decide to give her the prize, or how fierce the competition was, or about the source that the thing must come from. She just kept believing and sending out positive energy.

One thing she always said, is that there is no failure, only delay in results. When after weeks or months of projecting and expecting there is still no sign of the desired thing, you still have be patient and continue believing – it’s just another delay in results.
