This painting is one of the rare masterpiece by the late Chinese businessman, artist and calligrapher Wan Wing Sum温永琛 (1922-1995).
Wan’s works are gaining popularity and traction in mainland China.
The Samaritan stated that Wan’s 扶摇直上 (104×57cm) was auctioned at RMB 89,600 at Guan Zhou China, 2011. Wan’s another 1979兰竹图 (82×135cm) was auctioned at RMB 224,000 at Beijing China, 2010.
The Samaritan opined that the masterpiece has the potential to grow in value as Wan was widely acclaimed in various esoteric art forms albeit not formally trained.
The Samaritan aptly surmised 江湖险，人心更险。
